Aim

To provide an advanced program in mediation theory and practice for professionals whose employment requires them to work with interpersonal, family and/or organisational conflict in a wide range of settings.

Content & Structure

This program is made up of four 4.5 unit courses, a total of 18 units. Students must complete the two core courses and choose two additional courses from the Family Mediation specialisation.

Rules

1. No course which is substantially equivalent to a course taken in gaining another award may be included in the program of study.

2. This program is nested within the Graduate Diploma and Master of Mediation and Conflict Resolution and full credit will be given for all of the courses passed if students proceed to enrol in these programs.

3. The Graduate Certificate program is equivalent to one half year full-time but is offered on a part-time basis over one or two years.

Notes

1. The core course WELF 5081 Mediation Theory and Practice is a prerequisite to WELF 5082 Advanced Mediation Theory and Practice.

2. The core course WELF 5081 Mediation Theory and Practice will be taught as a five day block in the mid-semester break in April; WELF 5082 Advanced Mediation Theory and Practice will be taught in a five day block in the mid-semester break in September/October.

3. This is a required course; however, if family law or children are not the student's focus another relevant course can be selected with permission from the Program Director and the Course Coordinator, for example a postgraduate course on Ageing.
