Postgraduate
Postgraduate
To enable students to teach outdoor education in a senior schooling setting.
Through observation and engagement in senior years outdoor and environmental education, students will consider the scope of learner needs to conceptualize and research teaching strategies to maximize the effectiveness of teaching and learning outdoor education. Focusing on the domains of conservation and sustainability, human connections to nature, personal and social growth and development students will plan and teach sequential learning episodes that develop academic skills of inquiry, critical appraisal of evidence, planning and evaluation as well as applied skills of judgement, decision-making, leadership for self-reliance and collaboration through reflective practice. These learning episodes will enhance learning of personal and social capability, ethical and intercultural understanding; and address cross-curricular priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture as well as sustainable living. Students will then reflect and critically evaluate the role of their curriculum plan, pedagogies, response to dynamic learning episodes and relationship with learners to maximize senior school learners' agency for deep and sustained learning about themselves, others and their environment.
