Course aim

To familiarise engineers engaged in the systems integration process with the defence electronic systems and technologies likely to be encountered in that process.

Course content

SENSORS - Target acquisition and tracking.
Radar -Types - CW, OTHR, mm wave; Principles of operation; Typical Applications.
Electro-optics – Types - Infrared Sensors, lasers, cameras; Principles of operation; Typical Applications.
Sonar- Types – active, passive, performance factors, military applications.

NAVIGATION.
GPS - Types - Principles of operation, Sea, Air, Land
Inertial - Types Principles of operation, Sea, Air, Land
Navigation warfare.

COMMUNICATIONS - Radio frequency. Cable. Optical. Space based.

ELECTRONIC WARFARE - Electronic attack. Electronic protection. EW Support.

COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEMS – Architecture. Communications. Data integration. Decision support. Computing. Situational Displays. GIS.
