Course aim

To provide an introduction to environmental chemistry concepts and methods, and to urban water systems. Basic chemistry principles that support learning on these topics will be covered.

Course content

Topics to be covered include:

  • Chemistry of major environmental systems
  • Key indicators of environmental quality
  • Urban water systems and treatment processes
  • Basic environmental sampling techniques and chemical analysis
  • Foundation chemistry principles relevant to each of the above topics
