Course aim

To engage students with theoretical and pedagogical perspectives about language, literature and literacy and teaching and learning strategies for developing an English curriculum for the primary years.

Course content

Students will extend their knowledge of theories and research that inform their implementation of the English curriculum in the primary years emphasising literature, perspectives on difference, and contemporary issues in English. Students will apply their knowledge by analysing approaches to teaching and learning English in ways that demonstrate their ability to make judgments about the design and implementation of a quality classroom English program.
