Course aim

In a real world setting students will be able to evaluate marketing strategy and/or communications for industry-based problems.  The course will offer hands-on experience in marketing and marketing strategy for local business ‘clients’.

Course content

The course has a two pronged experiential approach. Students will have the opportunity to experience and practice marketing in a real world setting by choosing one of two options:

Option 1: In a real world setting, students will be able to respond to marketing challenges presented by business owners/professionals and design briefs, evaluate marketing problems and provide strategic marketing direction for the businesses.

Option 2: The course will also offer an opportunity to participate in national or international marketing/retailing/business competitions as part of or in lieu of the course work, depending on the competition. Working in teams, students will find solutions to real world or simulated problems and cases, discuss strategies to come up with creative and practical solutions and fulfil competition requirements in the process.
