To provide students with knowledge of the pathophysiology of selected organ systems and the mechanisms of action of therapeutic agents used to treat disorders of these systems.
The underlying physiology of brain circuits, CNS neurotransmitters and receptors; neurological and psychiatric disorders; drugs with abuse potential, including lifestyle drugs such as performance-enhancing drugs. The pharmacology of drugs relevant to endocrine and gastrointestinal disorders; metabolism of carbohydrates.
