Fundamentals of Pharmacology

Course aim

To develop an understanding of the fundamental principles of drug action.

Course content

Fundamentals of pharmacology including: mechanisms of drug action and toxicity; receptors, agonists and antagonists; the autonomic and somatic nervous systems and the cardiovascular system. Inflammation and tissue repair and pain mechanisms; pathophysiology of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and respiratory disorders; the basic pharmacology of drugs used to treat these conditions.
