Course aim

To develop an understanding of microbial pathogenesis and carcinogenesis and of the drugs used to treat these conditions and to establish an understanding of teratogenesis

Course content

Nucleotide metabolism, synthesis of proteins and amino acids; diversity of microorganisms; microbial pathogenesis and infectious diseases; anti-infective agents, the mechanisms of action and development of resistance; structure and function of the immune system; auto-immunity and hypersensitivity; monoclonal antibodies, transplantation, vaccines and immunomodulatory drugs; mutagenesis, carcinogenesis and teratogenesis: cancer therapeutics: target organ toxicity,
