To provide professional experience in the management, operation and review of a surveying operation.
This course is not a formal placement. However, it blends some of the learning to be gained from professional placement with the undertaking of a project supervised by the University. Each student will be teamed with a professional Surveying organisation. The university will consult with the organisation to design a field oriented project for the student to complete. The project theme would not be limited to, but would most likely reside in one of the following categories of surveying; topographic; engineering; land information; geodetic; hydrographic; or mining. The student will be provided with expert advice from the organisation at multiple points through the study period and the University will provide additional support via way of equipment and further advice should this be required. The project findings will be presented to the organisation and the University at the completion of the study period.
