UniSA Education Futures
To assist students’ in developing an understanding of dominant discourses that exist within the field and to broaden their understanding of multiple perspectives about theory, research and practice in early childhood as alternative discourses.
Students will critically engage with multiple perspectives of children throughout history and explore
how historical as well as contemporary perspectives have informed and continue to inform how children are positioned within societies and in education settings. Students will also critically reflect upon how their own understandings of children, childhood and education inform their professional work with children. Students will engage with multiple theoretical perspectives and current research to understand contemporary issues in early childhood education and reconceptualised practice.
