To develop students' critical understanding of the nature, content, practices and theories of the English curriculum for middle and senior schools.
Students will develop critical knowledge of English as a secondary school subject. Students will investigate the historical perspectives and the scope of the English curriculum in Australia today, the introduction of current frameworks within the Australian and the International Baccalaureate curriculum. The students will also investigate programing and planning of teaching activities, cross-curriculum perspectives and assessment, literacy and explicit teaching of language through texts, short stories, novels, picture books, TV, film, video, media and magazines for the middle years.
