Course aim

To enable students to critically reflect on issues concerning Aboriginal education and teaching Aboriginal studies, and to analyse key critical theories of socially just and transformative curricula.

Course content

Students will reflect critically on Aboriginal languages, histories, social systems and cultures by reviewing the history of Aboriginal education, Aboriginal knowledges and communication, critical theories of education and pedagogy. The students will also review culturally responsive teaching and learning in rural and remote education, classroom management, policy and the politics of Aboriginal education, racism and anti-racist education, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural studies curriculum, and International perspectives on Indigenous education.
