To enable students to have a critical understanding of the goals, purposes and methods of teaching mathematics in the middle and senior years of schooling.
Student will critically understand the nature of knowledge in and purpose of teaching mathematics, impact of learning theory on the teaching of mathematics, assessment in mathematics, teaching methodologies appropriate for junior secondary mathematics and use of computers and calculators in mathematics teaching, curriculum documents, eg. Australian Curriculum.
