To study theory and practices in arts education for secondary schooling with reference to a range of approaches for diversity and inclusion.
Students will consider approaches to inclusive practices in arts education for the diverse needs of learners. Topics include: the arts as cultural education; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives; deconstructing the ‘deficit’ model; and working with differently abled learners. Students will deepen their understanding of arts pedagogies through detailed investigation of differentiation and inclusion with reference to professional arts practices from across a range of cultures and/or created by differently abled artists. Students will undertake practical work demonstrating skills in relation to the AITSL standards.
