The aim of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to understand a broad range of neonatal health problems and neonatal care options within the physiological, sociocultural, political and economic contexts midwifery.
Neonatal health problems; basic embryology related to specific neonatal health problems in body systems; pathophysiology of neonatal health problems/disabilities; assessment of a sick neonate; pharmacokinetics related to neonatal health problems; evidence based midwifery care of the sick neonate; technological skills related to care of the sick neonate; ethical, legal and cultural aspects related to care of the sick neonate; understanding of family centred care.
