Course aim

To produce an individual planning project report or urban design study (individually or as an outcome of a Group Project) with appropriate support from a designated supervisor and the course co-ordinator.

Course content

Review of relevant literature in demonstrating research context. Research methods and design characteristics. Ethics. Data collection and analysis. Report writing. Research conclusions, recommendations and/or proposals for further research. In some cases and where relevant, team work as part of a group project with external industry partners or other disciplines or Schools or universities.
Note: If a student is undertaking either the ‘social and community planning’ or ‘environmental planning’ major, then the project topic must be of relevance to the major and approved by the Program Director.

If a postgraduate student wishes to do this course they will be exempt from this requirement, provided that previous relevant undergraduate study has been completed.

Corequisite(s)

A Planning Honours student may take this course as a 9 unit planning elective option in addition to their thesis. In this case the student must address a topic and project content that is different to their Honours thesis. No corequisites are required for postgraduate students doing this course as a planning elective.
