Course aim

To develop appropriate research skills in preparation for undertaking an Honours study.

Course content

Definition of a research area and literature search. The literature review. Academic style guide. Library research skills. An introduction to a range of social science research approaches methods of data and information management. Ethics in research. Project scheduling.
Note: If a student is undertaking either the ‘social and community planning’ or ‘environmental planning’ major, then the project topic must be of relevance to the major and approved by the Program Director.
