To extend students’ understanding of the professional practice of design through involvement in a range of activities within a structured placement.
Students will observe and analyse design work practices and methodologies in a design studio practice in commercial context (locally, nationally, internationally). Students will observe and analyse workplace organisation and procedures, project management and record keeping. Students will gain skills in professional communication processes and techniques, client liaison and interfacing with allied professions. Students will have involvement in work practices that demonstrate independent and collaborative processes; project management and problem solving via work on a design problem.
