Aim

The Master of Architecture Degree qualifies individuals who demonstrate professional design, communication and management knowledge and skills in response to technical, environmental and cultural issues in the built environment, for professional practice and as a pathway for further learning including higher degree by research.

Content & Structure

Graduates of a Master of Architecture degree will have a body of knowledge that includes an understanding of contemporary architectural practice leading towards professional registration, and in-depth knowledge of architectural principles and concepts required through various stages of a building project, from its design and documentation through to its construction and beyond, and knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to a field of work and or learning.

The students will complete 72 units of study where Year 1 develops competence in core course streams and broadens awareness and develops specialisation through undertaking of electives, and Year 2 expands the intellectual and professional areas of the program and provides scope for research related to complex individual design projects.

From 4 August 2025, the University of South Australia will no longer be accepting applications for new students. Study at Adelaide University.
