UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences
Students will explore clinical pharmacology relevant to advanced scopes of nursing practice through in depth examination of common medicines used across a range of practice areas including major drug classifications likely to be used in their own practice client population.
Prescribing and administering medicines; use of e-medication charts; classifications of commonly administered medicines in the area of nurse practitioner specialisation and in common chronic health problems; relevant legislation as it relates to nurse practitioner practice; standing drug orders and protocols; implications of generic and brand names when prescribing medicines, clinical drug trials; client adherence to use of medicines, Australian Medicines Terminology, National Prescribing Framework, Quality use of Medicines.
