Course aim

The aim of this course is to equip the student with the skills to be able to manage the communications between the IT professionals in the IT function of the organisation and also to manage the communications between the IT function and other elements of the organisation.

Course content

Developing theory and skills for communicating about IT topics in different organisational contexts, different perspectives on technical and professional communication, especially within IT organisations: understanding the effects of organisational structure and culture on communication; understanding the client and client staff; managing client expectations; successful interpersonal behaviour; presentation skills; communication skills. Negotiation and resolving contractual disputes; team problem-solving and collaborative writing.
