To introduce and build foundation knowledge in clinical reasoning and the theory that underpins physiotherapy management of chronic conditions, and to develop safe and effective massage skills.
Clinical reasoning: problem definition, clinical problem solving framework, use of evidence and inference. Theory of group work. Use the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) framework as a basis for clinical reasoning in chronic conditions Definitions of chronic conditions and their impact on society’s health status. The relationship between the prevalence and severity of chronic conditions and social determinants of health. The role and interaction of personal factors in the adaptation to, and management of chronic conditions. Learning and behaviour change theories and principles of management. Massage theory and practical.
