Course aim

The aim of this course is to develop student's ability to network effectively with people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds in their personal and professional lives. It also aims to equip students to strategically manage their career beyond the borders of a single organisation.

Course content

In the core topic of networking, students will explore group dynamics, communicating professionally, building and maintaining networks, and how to make networks work to their full advantage.

In the core topic of career management, students will investigate making career choices and decisions, organisational theory and decision making, managing 'borderless' careers, and personal development to enhance employability.

In the core topic of intercultural communication, students will develop an understanding of communication methodology, how to be an effective intercultural communicator, cultural communication differences, cultural identity and how it impacts on values, needs and assumptions in communication.
