Course aim

To develop students' knowledge of the counselling process and to core counselling microskills, and to provide small group practice in the use of these.

Course content

In this course students will further develop their knowledge of current research and best practice in counselling. Students will build up their knowledge of the counselling process and will further develop counselling microskills (including attending behaviour, open and closed questions, client observation skills, encouraging, paraphrasing and summarising, reflection of feeling). Students will have the opportunity to practice these skills in a safe environment.
