To further develop students' counselling and interpersonal skills to include influencing skills and intervention strategies.
Students will further develop their knowledge of the counselling process and their counselling skills. They will be introduced to advanced microskills and provided the opportunity to practice those skills. They will be introduced to basic influencing skills (focusing, empathic confrontation, stress management, and therapeutic lifestyle changes) and will learn the patterns of skill usage appropriate for different cultural groups, and their application in different areas of practice. Students will have the opportunity to practice these skills in a safe environment.
