To further provide students with Radiation Therapy specific theory and knowledge of common treatment sites.
Treatment for brain malignancies including stereotactic radiation therapy and stereotactic radiation surgery; adjuvant treatment: complementary medicine and chemotherapy principles; superficial x-ray planning (landmarks, measurements and calculations for a superficial x-ray treatment); superficial x-ray and electron cut-outs; skin cancer management; prevention and care of radiation injury; anatomical image matching for treatment verification; rationale and technique for radiation therapy treatment to brain, skin, lung, oesophagus and gastro-intestinal tract malignancies; use, risk and contra-indications of contrast media; radiobiological effect of radiation on tumour cells and normal tissue; treatment of non-malignant conditions, patients with disabilities including those who are hearing and sight impaired, or unconscious; teamwork; scope of practice.
