Course aim

To promote an understanding of the social, cultural and environmental determinants of health, with a specific focus on the health of Aboriginal Australians and disadvantaged populations

Course content

Core concepts of health; common measures of health (morbidity, birth/death rates, burden of disease etc.); risk factors, social, cultural and environmental determinants affecting health across state, national, international populations with special reference to marginalised or disadvantaged groups such as Aboriginal Australians; current and new challenges to health and health care systems; health promotion: principles and interventions.
