To introduce students to the theory and practice of writing for professional Public Relations.
Students will become familiar with the role and responsibilities of the public relations writer, including the purpose of media releases and writing media releases, brochures, flyers and posters and newsletters. They will analyse persuasive writing and the ethics of persuasion, identify 'good writing' and apply writing techniques. They will be introduced to grammar and style in a public relations context, including email, web sites and new media, long form and feature writing and speech writing, with an introduction to writing for broadcast media.
