Character Driven 3D Animation

Course aim

To build upon the animation theory and practice presented in INFT 3011, and familiarise students with an intermediate level of 3D character animation production.

Course content

This course builds on the concepts presented within INFT 3011 Introduction to 3D Animation, and introduces students to an intermediate level of 3D modelling, lighting, texturing, rigging, animating and rendering concepts, techniques and processes. Students will further develop their knowledge of  the fundamental principles of animation specific to character design and performance. Students will further develop their design and performance skills in Maya, including character modelling, pelting, rigging, wak and run cycles, pose-to-pose and straight-ahead animation, and facial animation. The assessment tasks will provide students with the opportunity to combine these skills and techniques to develop a short story; and design, build and animate a character.
