The course has been designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and tools for competing effectively in the global business environment. The key question addressed in this course is – “What explains the success and failure of international firms?”
This course will improve your understanding of international strategy, management and competition. The course takes the firm which operates across borders as its unit of analysis, and the typical decision-maker is a senior manager within a multinational firm. The course is aimed at students who are or will be involved in managing and advising companies that either compete internationally or which face international competitors.
The differences between domestic and international strategy; dynamics of globalisation and regionalisation; product and international diversification, and the firm’s administrative heritage; firm internationalisation and corporate performance; role of institutions in international strategy; strategy for firms in emerging markets; gaining and sustaining competitive advantage; strategic, operational and organisational choices faced by MNCs competing in global markets.
