To appreciate the wide range of information available to assist the management of tourism and hospitality businesses; to manage innovatively this information; to locate the material within a social science context; to develop innovative responses to the information needs of tourism and hospitality businesses; to develop a professional approach to information management in tourism and hospitality.
The tourism and hospitality literature, approaches to managing information, philosophy and theoretical basis of research, evaluation of information, design and implementation of research projects, collection and analysis of data, day to day management of information in tourism and hospitality settings, design of innovative approaches to information needs, role of technology in information management, ethical considerations, practical applications to tourism and hospitality industry, communication of findings.
