Course aim

The course aims to engage students to think analytically and creatively in relation to the hospitality experience in social, cultural and commercial contexts.

Course content

Hospitality: socio-cultural and management perspectives, history and continuities in the hospitality encounter, gender issues underpinning host-guest relations, the commercial dimension of hospitality, global and local hospitality perspectives, workshop on Ingenium creativity tool – creative idea generation of hospitality concepts, phenomenology of the hospitality work experience, hospitality industry career opportunities, cross-cultural dimensions of host-guest relations and outlook for the future of the hospitality encounter.
