To introduce the fundamental principles in digital communications.

Course content

Mathematical backgrounds -- Fourier Transform, Probability, Random Signals, Sampling theory; 
Signal Space; 
Modulation/Demodulation -- QAM, PSK, FSK, pulse shaping, match filtering; 
Baseband and Passband transmission; and
Synchronisation (phase, time, frequency).
