To provide students with the fundamentals of electronic circuits and an understanding of physical electronics of a range of discrete semiconductor devices, including design, construction and testing of experimental electronic circuits.
Electronic devices: construction and operation of discrete devices, p-n junction diodes, special diodes. Diode circuit applications. Power Supplies :rectification, filtering, regulation. Bipolar junction transistors: dc models, modes of operation, amplifier configurations. Amplifier circuits: Bias and stabilisation, graphical analysis, small signal ac models, coupled amplifiers. Field effect transistors; principles and operations. dc and ac models. FET-based amplifier. Logic circuits: logic families, digital inverter, CMOS inverter, Emitter-coupled logic circuits. applications.
