To provide a unifying framework for the design and implementation of electronic communication systems, and to develop the basic electromagnetic principles and practices which pertain to the transmission and propagation of communication signals, and to the design and construction of high-frequency circuits.
Historical overview of communication principles, systems and technologies; Electronic transmitter and receiver circuits; RF amplifiers and oscillators; antennas; propagation; mobile radio propagation; TEM and other waveguiding structures; transmission line theory; passive lumped RF circuits; introduction to active RF circuits; layout and EMC principles; Fibre-optic communication; hardware projects.
