To develop students’ knowledge of design documentation conventions, and competence in applying processes, strategies and practices.
Design: theories of culture, value, tectonics and technology and their integration in the design and resolution of more complex buildings and environments; professional responsibilities to clients, society and the environment. Documentation Process: planning, organising and controlling design development, documentation and project management, coordination of the project team. Synthesis: integration of complex design intentions and the principles of building structures, building services, building regulation and codes, construction systems and materials. Project management: project definition, feasibility and appraisal, time, cost, quality, risk, procurement, organisational structures and communication, computer software and scheduling tools, project commissioning and handover, evaluation and feedback. Product: development of a complex building design into a comprehensive set of contract documents in teams.
