To develop students’ competence in applying design processes, strategies and practices to a variety of design projects which focus on contemporary issues of sustainable development.
Students will develop knowledge of architectural design processes by investigating physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, social, ethical and economic issues in designing for ecological responsibility. Students will further develop their knowledge of environmental filtering through studies of the bio-physical environments and comfort, passive and active environmental modification, energy and resources management, and ecological footprints of the various built form. Students will apply design strategies in the materials selection process, and integrate lifecycles, occupant health and social sustainability into the construction strategies.
