Course aim

Students will build upon Introductory and Intermediate media courses to examine professional journalism and professional communication practices in a range of international contexts, and analyse their relationship to theories of international media communication.

Course content

Students will assess and analyse the impact of globalisation and developments in communications technology on media professionals in an international context, and explore the ethical considerations of media practices in diverse geographic, economic, cultural, social and political context. They will locate journalistic and media management resources in diverse markets and examine theories of cultural hegemony and indigenous perspectives on international media communications.
