To develop in students the ability to critically analyse approaches to individualised service intervention in the human services, in particular case management, and to plan and manage interventions from a case management perspective.
History of and influences on case management; definitions and characteristics; practice models; organisational, worker and professional perspectives; consumer and carer perspectives; consumers and carers as case managers; identification of critical issues for the case manager; ethical dilemmas in practice; the process of case management; the difference between case management and traditional approaches to service delivery.
