Course aim

To enable the student to critically analyse situations for human service intervention and select appropriate practice approaches that reflect knowledge of core human service practice principles.

Course content

The generalist practice context; ethical and cultural competence; practice perspectives (in particular: strengths and ecosystems perspectives), principles and theories; crisis intervention; grief and loss; intervention frameworks; the empowerment-based practice process: data collection, assessment, service planning, formulating intervention strategies; service plan implementation and coordination; monitoring and evaluation.
