Course aim

To enable students to further examine programming and planning in English in the middle years including consideration of disadvantaged students and the place of English in an integrated middle schooling curriculum.

Course content

The students will further explore the SACSA framework and the use in programming and planning for the middle years. The students will critically reflect on developed programs that support diverse groups of learners, including the NESB (non-English speaking background) learners and learners with English literacy difficulties. The students will develop knowledge of teaching English in an integrated middle school curriculum and assessing learners' work and providing constructive feedback. The students will read, view and review texts to increase the range of classroom activities and teaching strategies they can use.
