Course aim

To enable students to develop skills in critically thinking about and engaging in educational practice.

Course content

Initial teaching skills; qualities of arguments; analysis of professional knowledge; the identification of personal values, their relationship to current educational purposes and practices; the way personal values give rise to conceptions of social justice; justifying a concept of social justice; ethical implications of teaching; relativism about values and its limitations; critical analysis of some aspects of current educational policies, guidelines and practices, as they pertain to the practicum.
