To familiarise students with the social and spatial aspects of recreation planning in an urban setting, the methods in use, and their social and political implications.
The political framework of planning and resource allocation, recreation behaviour and activity, concepts of demand and supply, social and spatial parameters of recreation behaviour such as age, income, health, housing, location and their data sources, geographical aids to planning, planning methodologies and their contextualisation, case studies.
