Course aim

To provide the student with a theoretical understanding of immunology and develop skills to enable the student to perform tests routinely performed in a clinical diagnostic immunology laboratory.

Course content

General principles; Cells and organs of the immune system; Antigens; Immunoglobulins; Antigen-antibody reactions; Major histocompatibility complex; Antigen processing and presentation; T cell receptor; T cell maturation, activation and differentiation; B cell generation; Cytokines; Complement; Cell mediated effector responses; Leukocyte migration and inflammation; Hypersensitivity; Vaccines; Primary immunodeficiencies; Secondary immunodeficiencies; Immunopathology and immunodiagnosis; Autoimmune diseases; Transplantation; Cancer.
