Course aim

To introduce students to mechanics of deformable bodies and some elements of structural analysis.

Course content

Stress and strain; stress concentration; bending theory; shear stress in beams; torsion of circular sections; transformation of stress and strain; Mohr’s circle; elastic constants; theories of failure by yielding; deflection of beams; column buckling
