Course aim

To introduce students to procurement methods for construction projects and the establishment, administration and monitoring of construction contracts.

Course content

Procurement options and tendering processes. Standard forms of building contracts ( lump sum/cost plus/DECON 1/construction management ). Progress claims. Variations. Practical completion. Liquidated damages. Latent conditions. Nominated sub-contractors. Determination. Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Principles of Project Partnering.
