Course aim

To provide students with an understanding of the Australian legal system and the key principles of the law of contract, statutory law and the law of tort as a foundation to the contract administration of construction contracts.

Course content

Introduction to the Australian Legal System, Introduction to Contracts and Statutory Law, Offer and Acceptance, Consideration, Intention to Create Legal Relations, Capacity, The Contents of the Contract, Privity of Contract, Duress, Undue Influence & Illegality, Mistake, Misrepresentation, Discharge of a Contract, Remedies for Breach of Contract.
