Course aim

To consolidate the notion of Wirura Nyinanyi as a holistic notion of environmental, physical, mental and spiritual health; to develop a greater understanding of the social, cultural, economic and political factors which affect Indigenous Australians in contemporary society.

Course content

Issues affecting Indigenous Australians in contemporary life: government policies and practices including the Protection Act and Assimilation policy; the removal of Indigenous children; social justice system; domestic violence; family issues; traditional spirituality; health services; employment; housing etc. Developing spoken and written proficiency in the various genres of English related to this topic.
