Course aim

To enable students to demonstrate skills and knowledge as they adopt the role of practitioner in a birth to three setting.

Course content

Role and expectations of educators in birth to three settings; regulatory frameworks, policies, legal and ethical considerations; health, safety and nutrition issues; authentic curriculum planning for very young children; professional self development and reflective practice, managing behaviour; importance of relationships and communication with parents, staff and children; developing and maintaining a professional experience portfolio.
